Hi Tracy,
With that Golden in your class,it's hard to tell if the dog was taken back
into training or if it was dropped from the program. It wouldn't surprise
me if it was dropped. Forgetting platform work - the subway I imagine - can
be very serious and can indicate a general lack of responsibility on the
dog's part. The blind person's safety is paramount! If the Golden is
dropped, it will get a nice pet home. Things can show up in a dog at any
time during it's training or when it is matched with a blind person.
Sometimes things show up after the team gets home and is working for awhile.

Great idea for including a letter detailing your lifestyle and needs. the
instructional staff appreciate that very much so they can make the best
match they can for you. I do this as well when I aply for new dogs. the
staff can change and they don't know me or my situation can change from when
I recieved the dog before the one I am applying for.

I too, like a more mellow dog that fits my lifestyle. I have a dog with a
light pull and moderate speed to not exasperate my arthritis and my shoulder
and neck after an old injury. When I was younger, I could handle a "wild
child"! (grin!)

Good luck on your applications and hope you will be matched with a good dog
son.

Lyn and Landon
