[nagdu] Identification, was Legislative Consideration

I can go into Kincos and make up a card, but I don't. I could go to
many sites on the internet and spend anywhere between 10 to 30 dollars
for an id card and a certificate, but I don't.
The law does not require that we present identification as a condition
of access to places of public accommodation.
I've entered stores and restaurants where the last handler of an
assistance dog presented the card and all of the employees thought
that such paperwork was required. This meant that I got to spend my
valuable time educating said store and restaurant owners about my
rights and the law. There were instances where the store or
restaurant owner did not believe me and the police needed to be called.
I could carry around a bit of plastic to show, but every time I show
it, I'm making it just that much harder for the person coming behind
me who doesn't have one, and I refuse to do that.
Identification is not a foolproof way of separating the quote, real
from the fake. It just separates the card-carriers from the non-card-
carriers.
