Tracy, what kind of collar are you using on Echo? Is it chain? Is Echo a
Golden or have long hair?
Some of the pet suppliers like J&J Dog Supplies or JB Wholesalers sell a
nylon buckle collar that has a padded lining. Try one of these. Another
collar that may work is a nylon choke collar. Or a nylon martingale collar.
Having your dog without the collar and tags would present a problem if She
got out. A friend lost her guide dog and it was found a few days later by
someone who saw the tattoo in her ear. There was a newsstory on TV about
the dog and the tattoo in the ear. Dog and owner were finally reunited.
When I had a German shepherd that needed lots of leash corrections, I found
that the collar rubbed the hair off the side of her neck but there was no
abraision.
