This would also be a good reason to have your dog microchipped, if
they're not already. That way, if the dog got out and assuming the
person/agency that finds them has the correct scanner, the information
for the dog would come right up and you'd be contacted right away.
Even if the dog was obtained after some of the schools started
microchipping dogs, it would be well worth the $20 investment or
whatever the cost to have the vet or pet store implant the chip.
