Tracy,
Canidae is that other brand name I keep trying to remember! I considered
that way back, too, and it is good stuff. Can't remember why I chose
Wellness, then Evo (Inova makes that, I think).
With the recall of the Natural Balance whatever whatever formula, we're
considering a switch and I've been wracking my brains to remember the stuff
I already looked into and put on the approved list.
Thanks!

Hi Liz.
I am feeding Canidae for All Life Stages. It has a mix of meats of high
enough quality for human consumption. Most grocery store dogfoods have
much lower-quality meat. Also, the meats are the first few ingredients,
which is also not always true of grocery store brands.
Canidae has chicken, turkey, lamb and fish, plus rice and a lot of fruit
and veg. It doesn't have any dairy, which is why I chose it. My old Gal
Echo seems to have trouble digesting dairy.
It costs me about $23 for 35 pounds, not counting shipping, so it's more
expensive than store-bought. On the other hand, could I feed myself on a
couple dollars a day? Not likely!
I'm really happy to be able to give my dogs a high-quality food. They are
both healthy, with no allergy problems. Echo is 15 now! Did the
high-quality food help her live longer? I don't know, but I'm sure it
didn't hurt.
