[nagdu] guide dogs

Julie,

Can you clone the death ray eyes and send me a pair for Mitzi. /grin/ She
has that poodle eye contact thing going, and even when she absolutely,
positively does not want people coming into her space, they seem to take the
eye contact as an open invite. I got tired of being turned around in
circles while some fool chased her around determined to get a hand on the
curls, so I just started training her to greet people. Which is why now she
can be a total shameless hussy some days! Yup! I created my own monster
there. /grin/

Ah, well. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, I guess. I still do keep trying
to think of a way to make her more imposing and scary looking, though.
/smile/ I like people a whole lot and don't really mind talking to
strangers, but on days when every stranger is our new best friend, I start
to feel a little wigged out. All I wanted to do was go to the local grocery
store and buy a donut in peace, and now I have 20 new friends who have just
told me all about their dogs, other pets, kids, every dog they ever had in
their life and... I don't even know if I've ever met those people before in
my life or not! /lol/ Could be also because I grin too much when I'm
nervous and make eye contact myself with whoever (or even whatever) I'm
nervous about. Huh. I wonder where my dog gets it, then?

Yes, my very large (26.5 90 lb) black lab Boxer cross doesn't get petted
that much. It still happens, but less than my other two dogs. Not sure if
it's the size, the color or the death ray eyeballs! LOL

He's very serious in harness and doesn't appreciate people petting him,
usually anyway. My hunch is that his lack of reaction or backing out of
the way of being petted is the biggest deterrent.

My first dog would drive me crazy with her flirting. She'd look up at
people in a very inviting way and wag her tail slowly, just begging for
attention. She wouldn't move her feet, pull toward them, jump, nudge or
anything like that. It was all in the way she would visually interact with
others.

Julie
