Kathryn,
First of all, it is unfortunate that the Pastor missed a great
opportunity to help you educate your church family and, instead, took
that
opportunity to make a failed attempt at humor at your expense! Like the
"Dining in the Dark" and other simulation experiences, such
stereotypical
comments are not at all funny; rather, they are humiliating, hurtful,
and in

very poor taste. Since you seem to have a good relationship with your
Pastor, as implied in your comment about weekly conversations, I would
suggest that you say precisely this:

"I want you to know that I felt humiliated, embarrassed, and angry when
you
made the comment about me falling over every box those who helped me
moved.
Such a comment was not only completely false, it depicted me in a very
poor
light!"

If he says it was an atempt to be funny, simply share with him that
you
did not feel it was at all funny. If my minister would have said such a
thing about me publicly, I would share with her the same feelings and
ask
her for a public apology since the degrading comment was made publicly.
JMHO!

Fraternally yours,
Marion Gwizdala
