Yes, I thought of that too.  Really big breeds usually have short lifespans.
I love Irish wolfhounds, but they hardly ever live past 8.  That's too
much grief for me.

I don't know if the short life has to do with the breed or the size.  I
don't know, for instance, if a big shepherd or lab lives a shorter time
than his smaller brothers.
