I was teaching at a small private college when I lost my sight, and the 
summer after rehab I got a dog from Seeing Eye. There was a woman student 
with a dog already there, and I noted she did a number of things she 
shouldn't have. When she had no classes she would sit in the student lounge 
with her dog in harness, and other students would play with him/her by 
kicking wadded up pieces of paper. She earned money on work-study by working 
the college switch board. When she was on duty she would take off the dog's 
harness and let him run on campus, and then have to call many times when she 
wanted him back. At dorm parties students would give her dog beer, and (s)he 
would pass out. Her boy friend had to carry her dog back to her dorm room. 
All these horrified me.

I had a problem when working my dog on campus because there were a number of 
loose pet dogs there, and they would bother mine by trying to play with him 
while he was trying to work. This was in the early 70s, a time of students 
striking over Viet Nam and other matters, and the administration could do 
little to maintain discipline.

I do not know what problems you might have, but be aware of the 
possibilities.
