[nagdu] guide dogs and gps

I have the i-Phone, and I do use the GPS while traveling with my guide dog.
I use a program called Navigon wich costs about 50 dollars, and it works
very well. However, it’s a menu based program, but other than that, it will
tell you pretty much everything you need to know. The main screen displays
how long the trip will take, how much time has passed, the time remaining,
the speed of the vehicle, the bike, or how fast you are walking; depending
on your type of rout, and what street you are about to be on next. It does
so much more, but that is up to you to explore the program.

if you have a Nokia phone load stone works well and it is a free program. I
use it and it tells me all that I need to know. It is more labor intensive
to get started you have to get your own data sets or maps from the open
street map project. You can use Google maps to get pois and insert them
yourself. It is probably not as easy to learn as the captain or the trekker
breeze but for free it is good enough for me.
