I initally thaught it was because some folks thaught it was no different than sighted guide or using someone elses sight.  I have sence learned that some people don't like the fact that some guide dog users don't claim there poop.  I for one will pick up poop even if it may not be Hollys if I'm not sure but I've heard some non dog users complain.  Some quite bitterly!  
Intelligence is always claimed but rarely proven!
