Hi, rebeccca that is a legieimate question. I didn't get my first dog until Mark was ready to start seventh grade which means i think he had his 12th birthday. I wasn't comfortable getting a dog before then because I wanted Mark as well as myself to be more comfortable with my decision. I wasn't willing to be pushed in to a dicision that important as long as I felt my child needed to be my first priority. We all need to do what is right for our circumstances.
