[nagdu] Taking Dogs to Hospitals

Lisa,

That was pretty much my first thought. Cynics are us!

It is also possible that, while they were aware of the dog part of the
package, their brains never made the connection of dog to patients until the
last minute because they had never needed to think of it before... If Cindy
is the first guide dog user to be in the program, they wouldn't have
experience with that.

Then there's always the other possibility -- that they're just messing with
her -- but that's not what I'm getting from what she's saying. Whew! The
percentage of people who are like that may be awfully small, but they do
become pretty noticeable when they pop up, don't they? Then you hear a
friend or acquaintance asking how to deal with situation the 3rd party has
caused and all of a sudden it seems that's all there is out there because
the nice ones don't need to be discussed.

Honest people who just want to make sure everything is arranged and are
doing their best to find out how the dog fits into it all and make it all
work are far more the norm -- and becoming moreso as more blind people
become more integrated into society. Which is cool, but nothing to discuss
because it's unexciting. /smile/

Okay, back to snarly cynicism now!

Maybe they just weren't thinking and didn't realize you and the dog were a
package deal. It was probably one of those discussions they had when you
weren't there, and as the time for the orientation got closer, they realized

that maybe oh yeah, the dog is coming with her. *eyeroll*

The handle on my recliner apparently doesn't qualify as an exercise
machine...who knew ?
