Pilot does similar things during training, but each of us were told to start 
off slowly with leaving the dogs alone.
Around the time when I moved from my former roommate's house, I had Odie 
stay with her for a while since he was already comfortable and familiar with 
that place.
When it came to my apartment in the beginning before I moved, I took Odie 
with me and left him investigate the place.
He wondered around and sniffed some before coming back to my side.
Once I brought him to the new home after everything was set up, I had him on 
tie down for two weeks.
I slowly and gradually gave him some free time.
