[nagdu] nagdu Digest, Storms.

Hi All, I thought I would throw this out there. I live in Texas, right in the middle of tornado ally, so thunder storms, are a fact of life. Pollyann and I both are not fans of them. My grandparent's house was struck by lightning several years ago, so I am not thrilled by it. I try not to react, but I think Pollyann picks up on my nerves. I heard a couple of years ago, the static electricity in storms is what really bothers our dogs, so I have also heard and I know this works, use an uncented dryer sheet to rub all through your dog's coat before the storm. This removes the static. I now can ask Pollyann if she wants her dryer sheet and she runs for the laundry room. I hope this helps, as t-storms are going to be with us for a few months yet. Stay safe, and keep cool!

As of yesterday, Friday, There was a ban on the use of fireworks mandated for Hillsboro, Pinelass, and Pasco Counties -- because we haven't had rain here during our Dry Season, and everything is like kindling.

To the north, south, and east of us, it'll rain, but not here. In April we had one little rain event, and ditto that for May. Our first rain in June happened Saturday morning, for maybe 15 minutes, although areas around us got an hour, and maybe more. Today we had that water stuff fall out of the sky for a few hours, just enough to make a mess.

She was deeply affected by it and as she grew older she became more affected by loud noises whatever they were. When thunderstorms came along, she would go into a place where she would not see lightning and then just sit in a sort of catatonic state, so I am very careful not to subject the dogs to things like that. I had a Shepherd who was a bit paranoid once and I tried some herbal med with her but it didn't do any good.
