[nagdu] dogs alone in hotel rooms

Hi:

Oh, I can't stop myself, I have to chime in. Cheryl I really appreciate your sense of responsibility with your dog but we all do not operate the same ways. I am not a person who likes to take my dog down to the pool or sauna when I'm in a resort so he can stay in the room and chill. Your arguement about the possibility of fire is compelling except that this could happen at your house when you are away as well with the same tragic results. However, I'm not going to take my dog to my bands gigs or to a football game just because I can. It's not good for him. I will not worry about things that will most likely not happen. ie: I could get trampled at the game and my dog will wonder what eveer happened to me. :)

so as others have said, if I trust my dog to not go crazy barking or tearing apart the room then I will leave him for short periods of time alone. My dog will be lying in front of the door the whole time we are gone. :)

anyway, my main point is that cheryl is right that we all need to be responsible owners but what that means will be different for each of us. With regards to the conventions policies I understand where they come from. If people aren't comfortable with them then they can just book into that hotel, or another one, at the normal room rates and not say they are with any convention.

Enjoy the long weekend.
Gary
