[nagdu] Furminator

Hey Julie,

I'm afraid this doesn't answer your question, and only muddies the water. I
have two furminators, both about two and a half inches. I didn't know I
could specify long or short coat, so I'm not sure which I have. and the new
one doesn't do quite as good a job as the old one which I thought I ought to
replace(lol.) I went to the Furminator website, and apparently the new ones
have a button which zaps the hair out of the tool. I'm not sure that's
necessary, but it didn't seem to give the option of no button. It does
recommend the 4 inch edge for short haired large breeds, which goes from 51
to 90 pounds. The site also warns against inadvertently purchasing what it
calls counterfeit furminators. I got my new one from Target, so who knows if
it was the real deal. Of course some knock-offs might be just as good, but
Furminator certainly wouldn't want you to know that. Leaves the consumer a
bit baffled, I'm afraid. The one on the website for Monte's coat and size is
$63!! They aren't cheap, that's for sure. But they're impressive, and with
our dogs constantly going out in public, they're probably worth it.

Subject: [nagdu] Furminator

Heya!

I bought a Furminator several years ago. At the time there was only one
type in three sizes, small for cats, medium for dogs and huge for horses. I
noticed now that there are two types of Furminator for dogs. One for short
hair, less than two inches, and one for long haired breeds. In addition
each comes in a variety of sizes. Does anyone know what coat length the
original Furminator was meant for?

If I could use the new one on Monty's extremely short coat that'd be great,
but I don't want to buy another of the same thing. Ideas?

Julie
