William I would have first stayed calm, ask to speak to the manager of the store, point out especially in Texas since NAGDU if I remember correctly they have a large presence as well as the NFB, since we are in Texas many times for our Conventions.
Again stay calm, explain that the dog is a guide dog, if it is in a mall, go to the Mall Management office, remember the department stores in malls, strip malls, etc pay rent to the Mall Management Companies. If all else fails, then in my case here in NY, but I am sure you can do that there in TX, I call the police, I make a formal complaint against the company. I then call the local newspaper and local tv station and inform them that this has happened. If it is a good reporter you are talking to they will ask for a statement for the department store representative and they will give there reply
If it is a major department store, TARGET, MACY, KOHLS, ETC, even small stores have a main corporate office, if you need to go online to find out the number customer service, or ask to speak to management of the department stores corporate offices, you will find this online. Let them know you were denied access with your guide dog. Tell them date, time, if you can find out the name of the employee who did this, etc. It will help.

Subject: [nagdu] Guide Dog User Discrimination
Hello all!
It's been awhile since I've posted. I have to figure out how to take the
messages off of digest mode. I think that's part of the reason.
Today, I've heard of a local guide dog user here in Houston that went to a
department store and was told they had to leave. They tried to explain that
their dog was a service animal and forced to leave. Is there a process that
NAGDU tends to go through when attempting to educate stores as to the rights
of guide dog users and accessibility?
Thanks!
