Amen to that! I have been so glad to see that not all guide dog programs 
require that an o&M instructor sign off on your worthiness to use a 
guide dog.

I don't know what the instructor who signed off on my worthiness thought 
about whether I should get a dog or not. She made sure I wouldn't 
because she attributed my ability to walk around to my really great 
vision, which I used to read street signs to keep from getting lost...

So I got a poodle... /lol/ She told me blind people can't traing their 
ownguide dogs, as I recall, then she told me how to feed my dog and a 
few other things, then she messed with my dog in my home, so she never 
came back again after that. Since, according to her,  I was doing just 
fine cooking and doing all those other dailiy living skills under 
sleepshade because of my really great vision, I did not see the need to 
continue lessons.
