I had an o and m instructor that didn't want me to get a dog so I did it anyway. I didn't use him as a reference. I don't believe that a counselor needs to be involved in that kind of decision. There job isn't to run live but assist with trainings so you can be as independent as posible.

Also, I have known counsellors who advocate against the use of dogs!
