Hi, Sam,
With any grooming tool, everyone should be carefull and causcious of how it
is used.
Honestly, I don't really notice or have seen any warning advisories on the
majority of grooming tools.
only item I saw a warning on was called the sheddinger.
It has the same type of blade that the furminator has.
Another suggestion I would like to offer to you is see how Mason will take
to your vacuumn cleaner, if it has a hose and parts that can connect to the
hose.
I have done this with Odie a few times and my husband has done it as well.
One trick I've had to learn was to keep the loud motor part away from Odie
so it wouldn't bother him as much.
While I vacuumned him, I took the hose and made it seem like I was actually
brushing him.
I'd run the hose from his head down his back to rear end and tail.
I bathe Odie twice monthly due to the climate here in Colorado as it isn't
skin friendly.
I also use Gold Meadow shampoo products when bathing Odie as all of their
shampoos do have a shedless ingredient in them to help cut down on shedding.
Since I have chronic severe asthma, dander and oil from the dog's fur are a
couple of triggers that do cause my asthma to flare up.
To avoid that problem, I figure bathing Odie twice monthly is enough to
prevent a full blown severe asthma attack.
Dale told me about a grooming device that looks exactly like a zoom groom,
but it has a handle so I can hang on to it much easier.
Another one I may look into is called the Shed Pal.
