Dear All,
This thread is now retired! I have done my best to help impress upon
list subscribers the importance of sending substantive messages to the list.
I would like to say, with all due respect, that none of the replies to Mr.
Andrews post have been substantive. They have only added to the volume the
original post, in my opinion, attempted to dissuade. Can we please refrain
from sending messages just for the sake of sending messages? There is no
need to reply to every message! This list is busy enough without idle chat.
Please take the idle chat off-list.
In addition, I want to urge every subscriber to cooperate with two new
guidelines.

* Please do not send messages that only acknowledge a post. Examples of this
are, "Good post!", "Way to go!", "Thank you!", and, simply "Yes!"
* If you want to write a message in agreement with a previous post or that
refers back to that post in some way, please include something that helps
the reader know to what you are referring and add something to the substance
of the message. For instance, posting simply, "I agree!" would not be in
keeping with this guideline. You agree with what? Likewise, something like,
"I agree that Great Danes do not make good guide dogs!" does not add
substance to the message. Why don't they? If your post does not add
something to the discussion, please consider not sending it!

I would like to again remind everyone that there are about 250
subscribers on this list. Most do not post frequently, choosing to subscribe
for the valuable resource this list provides. Please be respectful of all
subscribers by staying focused on the purpose of this list.
Finally, I ask the moderators to help shift the culture of this list
away from nonsubstantive mesages by writing to subscribers off-list who are
consistently noncompliant in an effort to help them understand these
guidelines. It is my hope that they will not need to do this. Please help
make this list an enjoyable experience for everyone by respecting our time
and resources.

fraternally yours,
Marion Gwizdala
