Hi, Will,
no, they haven't tried to force me into paying a pet deposit on Odie.
I moved into Sunset Park Apartments January 14, 2006 and have been living
here for almost six years next year.
The problem with the new pet rules document that Dale and I got a copy of is
that it states no exception to service dogs.
That, right there, is a big, big no no and discriminatory..
I got Odie as a guide dog on March 28, 2005 and he worked until September,
2010.
unfortunately, I had to medically force him to be retired from guide dog
work due to degenerative disc disease in his lower back.
His new working career is being a medical alert service dog.
My husband Dale and I decided on that since he medically saved our lives
many times.
Dale's life was saved three times in a row.
Odie medically saved mine and went beyond the duty of being a guide dog.
On March 27, 2008, Odie saved me again as there was a bad apartment fire on
the second floor twenty-five feet away from my apartment and it was
underneath us.
Odie smelled the smoke and immediately woke me up, letting me know that both
of us were in a dangerous situation.
A fireman told me that I was very, very, very lucky that Odie woke me up
because if it wasn't for him, both of us would have been dead immediately
from smoke inhailation.
That day, he definitely was spoiled with lots of pets and attention from all
the firemen.
