Well, you are very right. It is up to them to make the best
determination of how to meet the needs of the majority of their
consumers with the resources they have for doing that. Better them than
me, I say! So then it is up to me as a consumer to be happy with what
they come up with or go somewhere else. /smile/
I still do find it interesting to ponder their end of the
decision-making, though, as a sort of mental exercise in my free time...
Sometimes I will gain more understanding of the business side of the
guide dog programs that does make it make perfect sense. So I feel
enlightened. /lol/ I don't need that particular enlightenment right now,
but who knows? When I do go off to get a guide dog the good
old-fashioned way, my understanding of the behind the scenes workings of
the guide dog programs could come in real handy. And it will make me
happier because I don't like not understanding stuff. I'm silly that way
and will wonder about just about anything there is to be wondered about
to keep myself entertained. /lol/
I do find it more usefully enlightening and pertinent to hear the
musings of the other guide dog users on the list. I already know what my
own wants and needs are and why and so on. I get a kick out of finding
out how alike and yet how different we all are when it comes to our
dogs. /grin/ Turns out we're not all clones, after all! /lol/

It would seem odd at first, especially if they operate in the same format--You get there Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday through the morning they get to know you and do some lectures, Wednesday afternoon they let you meet your new partner and then they go on doing what they did before. When I went for that shortened time in 2008, I went on Saturday and came home on a Tuesday. This way I would go on a Monday and go home on Thursday. I don't have strong druthers about it really.
