[nagdu] Has anyone experienced chronic "urine leakage" from a spayed female dog?

Hi Folks,

I'd be interested to hear from folks who've dealt with this issue. Over the past week or two my 5 year old pup Marqi has been leaving a wet spot on her bed, and a few times her bed was soaked. This had happened a handful of times over the 2.5 years I've had her, but it's happened every day and sometimes several times a day this past week or so. I made sure she got extra trips outside but this didn't help. She wasn't randomly peeing on the floor or anything like that, just leaving a wet spot or puddle whereever she was when asleep. Time of day and amount of water intake also seemed to make no difference.

At the Vet on Friday she checked out healthy in every other way. . . The Vet said she has a condition that some spayed female dogs get where their bladder or something in the urinary system relaxes and "leaks" when they are sleeping. I didn't get the technical name of the condition. The Doc prescribed a chewable pill called "Proin" (phenylpropaolamine hydrochloride). The Doc said this drug will fix the issue but there's a good chance Marqi will need to stay on the drug indefinitely. She's fine otherwise, and, assuming the drug does work as expected, she should have no related problems in her role as guide dog.
