Those telescoping canes stand a better chance of not collapsing if you take each part that turns and turn it as tight as possible. I wish they stayed open a little better, but I really don't mind using a long cane. It is just that there are certain times at church when I feel more comfortable with the cane than the dog and I always take the dog.
