[nagdu] another what would you do question

Julie,

I agree that the theories are good, but the logistics difficult to
implement. /smile/ Unless the other dog has a conveniently distinctive
bell or something that is loud enough to be heard and distinguished from
a distance over crowd noise or whatever else is going on, you simply
can't count on avoiding being in the same space. Hm...

The step of talkin to the other handler about the matter is a great one.
So I'm interested in hearing how that goes. You waited until your
emotions were settled down so you can do that in a calm, adult
fashion... Not that I can see you doing it any other way. /smile/ It's a
lot of work to add that in to trip prep, it sounds like, but being
forewarned... Ugh! Still, I think that I would make the extra effort and
find out as much as I could.

So then, supposing you get hold of the handler before hand, you will
have a better picture of what you're likely to be facing. Depending on
how the other handler responds, of course! I would have been really,
really uncomfortable about the prospective van ride with that dog even
on a suspicion there might be aggression issues, but it sounds like
you're being spared that.

Good luck, and please do let us know what you find out and how it all
plays out. This is a situation any of us could face. Yuk! I've tried
thinking through it every which way while I read this thread and
honestly can't think of a strategy for dealing with another's aggressive
dog in a closed space that I'm happy with. Hm...
