Rhonda,
I am the same way with Motley.
He only gets his dog food and his treats I buy him and an occasional ice
cube.
If he tries to look for food, he gets a correction.

scrounge for food when in harness. Out of harness he will take advantage
of opportunities, but isn't a nuisance. Yesterday for example, the new
shipment of dog food came. both bags had broken open in the box and there
was a trail of kibble. Monty didn't hesitate to help get that cleaned up.
then last nightI noticed him licking the floor. Apparently something was
spilled earlier.

have a problem with him being inappropriate around food. We had a
discussion and the rules were strictly enforced. It took a couple of weeks,
but he's fine again.

food. I don't give my dog people food ever. I'm not saying he doesn't find
ways. We have rules; he scrounges for food anyway. The only people food I
ever give my dogs is carrots. At Starbucks they have a doggie latte that is
essentially a small cup of whipped cream. Nope. The dog begs enough. And
I've seen dogs that got people food go into places and wave their beaks
around like a sweeper, and this was a GSD. I don't really get the concept of
giving the dogs people food. Understand, though, that this is just my view
and the man to whom I used to be married. He was very strict about such
things, and I have followed suit.
