Hi, Hannah,
The day before training ends, the instructors will go over all of that.
They will give you salteen crackers: four of them to give to your dog so her
stomach won't be empty.
Before you leave the schools grounds, you will take her out for relieving
before you and others leave the school grounds.
As for flying, advice I can give is for you to remain calm and keep a good
composure while on the plane.
My other guide dog Freedom David Berry didn't like the plane either in the
beginning.
When I flew back to Pilot Dogs to retire him there, everything went far
better.
I made sure that he was given his anxiety meds and I pretty much slept the
whole entire time during the two flights.
I had to do Northwest, so had to transfer in Detroit, Michigan to another
flight going to Columbus, Ohio.
When it came to Odie however, he didn't care.
He was ready to get going like I was, ready for a new adventure and chapter.
Odie had no trouble with flying on the airplane and once we borded and the
plane began to take off, we both fell asleep.
We did have to transfer to another flight in Minneapolis, Minnesota because
we were using Northwest again.
After getting on the second plane and flight, the two of us went back to
sleep again.
Odie flew with me when I attended the GDUI national convention in las Vegas,
Nevada and again, he did fine flying there and back home.
