Hi Nicole,

When I went to Leader to train with Leo my German Shepherd back in 2005,
the trainers would take us out in the mini bus and drive around for a while
and then the trainer would drop   two students and their dogs off at
different locations and tell us where were getting dropped off at. And the
trainer would tell us to find our way back to the training center. And the
trainers would be out and about watching us. This was called our Mystery
walk.  The trainers wanted to see how well the student and dog worked
together on their own and that the student and dog are safe when out
walking.  we could ask for directions if needed.

I really enjoyed this drop off mystery walk  that I had to do. It showed  to
the trainers that I could safely work and trust in my dog when out and about
walking and that if I needed help because  of not being sure of where I'm at
that I can ask for some assistance and directions from someone if I needed
to.  I have to say my dog and I and the other student and her dog  that I
was with, we both found are way back to the training center just figureing
out where were at together and working as a team.

When I went to train with Gipp last December, the trainers were no longer
dropping students and their dogs off and telling them to find their way
back to the training center. Take care.
