Hannah,

Like everything it depends on your dog. Remember, that historically, dogs
were carnivorous animals.

So, in my opinion and experience, I like to feed my dog a food high in
animal protein. This is not to be confused with vegetable protein. And for
treats, I like to give meat based treats. Remember, I don't give my dog
grain.

Either plain meat, by that I mean roasted unseasoned meet that was not
cooked in any kind of oil, or meat packaged and sold by a quality dog food
manufacturer is fine. On the other hand, giving your dog part of your
bourbon glazed stake tips is not a good idea.

For treats, I typically stick to jerky in either lam or beef made by solid
gold, or bill jacks. However, I have used other meat based treats which were
specifically made for dogs.

As a side note, I have only had a guide dog for a month; however, I have had
a pet dog for most of my life.

Mark
