Tami, take heart; the same and even more powerful vocal feedback
applications to assist visually impaired persons correctly focus and take
pictures are being developed under android.  I think we're on the cusp of
affordable technologies in an easily manageable package which will help with
many tasks in addition to pictures--orientation, way finding, reading and
accessing information, identifying colours, reading bar codes, etc.  Who'd
have thunkit it?  And, ever under-estimate the power and yes, even curative
effects of social media.  "hey Frank, that sure looks like you who damn near
ran over that ugly blind guy with the beautiful dog."  Imagine poor frank
hearing that similar comment through his day, not to mention the silent wink
wink nudge nudges of total strangers.  And, it does happen for less
constructive reasons.  I'm really surprised that more blind folks with this
technology already available to them haven't made use of their tools in this
way.
