[nagdu] Guide Dog Adjustment

When I brought home my first guide, my pet dog of five years was very
jealous. I tried my best to make it clear to him that he was not
replaced, but she was just as important. She slept next to the bed
while he still slept on the bed, he got fed first because he was there
first, she had to hold a downstay while I played fetch with him etc. It
is true that dogs have to adapt to what we expose them to, but it is
also true that we need to help them adapt.

It has worked well for me thus far, and I have had three guides. Of
course, one of the three has been with me since he was a pup, so there
really was not much of a transition for anyone.
