As these teens essentially go through the motions, are they then matched
with a dog?  From your description, it sounds like they are not.

The Seeing Eye has a program that they offer a few times a year called
SESY).  I would have to look up the achronym, but it is a weekend program
for high school teens considering a guide dog.  You spend the weekend in a
local hotel, but you have hands-on contact with a dog learnign how to care
for the dog and even working the dog under the supervision of instructors.
And there are probably also discussion groups while there.

I'll try to remember to post again later wiht more stuff about The Seeing
Eye, but don't want to bombard the list wht messages.
