Oh, I know my dog can guide out of harness because he's done it in my heard. I just doubt I would do that any other time. I wouldn't walk anywhere without it unless it was a situation where, say, I had to evacuate. My Fisher can do it because, as I said, he has in the yard. When I am in a setting such as the condo you described, I would probably use the harness to go to the trash, but I can see your point, and maybe if I lived there I would see it differently.
