I am very careful when correcting my dog with the halti on. When I bought
it, the halti came with a booklet of instructions on how to use it and how
to correct and how not to correct with it.I don't have to correct Shaman
very often and most of the time I just use a voice correction. He knows by
the tone of my voice when he has made a mistake or is not behaving
properly. I always keep a loose leash when using the halti. Shaman does not
need the halti to control his head. It is for my benefit that I use it.When
you can't tell where sound is coming from because of a hearing problem, I
find that it helps me to know where the sound is coming from as my dog
always turns his head towards the sound. I hope this explains better why I
use the halti.Shelia, I used to use a Braille compass to help me with
directions . Some how I lost it but my dog Nala, learned all my routs and
when I was training Shaman I attached his leash to Nala's harness so he
also learned. If I go somewhere new, I ask directions.Maybe you could use a
Braille compass or use a GPS to help you. Mardi and Shaman and Tipton,
future GDIT.
