[nagdu] 2 things, what is a sleep shade, and update on my application

Lyn,

Teehee. Too funny. The problem is, that was in reports from more than
one person from the agency... Clearly, it was tacked on after the main
report was written in all cases... Hm. That wasn't even the most extreme
divergence from the plausible, if you can believe that. This is how the
agency functions, it seems, and it is clearly a top down problem and
clearly the new board is not about to do the obviously rational thing to
solve that problem. Sigh.

The fact that the agency informed the guide dog program in question that
I can navigate and all under sleepshade using my really great vision is
one thing. However, the guide dog program did choose to say on its own
letterhead that I have really great vision that I use to read street
signs and so don't need a guide dog. I am not making that up!

So I did consider applying elsewhere at the time, but couldn't get past
the "who needs it" part of the decision-making process there. So I ended
up getting a poodle pup and here I am. /lol/ I know more about guide dog
schools in generally and about a lot of them specifically now, so don't
rue the day I will need to apply again. I'm just super cynical about the
patronization, condescension, etc., factor one so often encounters when
it comes to resources for The Blind. /smile/ Not all people involved in
being gateways for those resources are of the sort I have come so
quickly to loathe, so I can simply target dealing with them instead. /smile/
