Hi list,
this discussion is very interesting to read.
Having a guide dog on leash at home is a bit surprise for me.
I am not saying it is wrong or something, but here in Slovakia we 
don't
put a guide on leash or tie down at home.

 It's not excuses they told me that the dogs should fet excited
 because they have been working with the dogs for the past 6
 months.  And every time they come they always make contact with
 the dog to make him more excited.

 Did you talk with the instrutors about it? When I had a similar
 problem, I found the dog would work for me in places we hadn't
 been before.  Be sure you are talking about it.

 Motley only wagged his tail at the trainer once when she came
 over with some
 scissors to cut the hair around his eyes.

 We were told to keep the dogs under control.

 It wasn't easy at the beginning, but we did it somehow.

 instructor worked on my area with Motley and I.

 My mobility instructor seemed to be familiar with guide dogs
 because she and
 the trainer go way back.

 Anyhow, she was able to help Motley and I along with routes here

 neighborhood, and it's worked out great!
