Hi Julie,

This is a good list. I tried Bridgeport, but their harness was, indeed, too restrictive for my tall, slender dog.

Rasberry Field's vests are pretty nice. Bold Lead designs is a good company. I have ordered leads and collars from her, and I got everything fast. It was good quality, also. It was kind of like working with LDS Leather, except with good customer service. I agree, while my harness is what I need, I hope never to have to deal with that company in the future.

I've also gotten a couple of harnesses from a company called Hillason Leather out of Texas. They primarily make horse tack, but they also sell a guide dog harness. It's adequate, but the handles are only one length, and so padded that I had a hard time actually feeling my dog's movements, if that makes sense. I bought handles from Bridgeport to use instead, and that worked OK, as the harness bodies were the typical American style.

I've heard too that Circle E Leather, also out of Texas, makes nice custom guide/service dog harnesses. I haven't seen one for myself though, but kind of want to because I am a huge nerd when it comes to dog gear.

The web site is easy to navigate and I don’t remember any issues with the ordering process. I bought a service dog vest with a handle on top and D rings to attach a handle. It is nice quality. They have frequent sales and I’d suggest waiting for one. Their regular prices are a bit more than I want to pay.

I have had a guide harness from them as well as a mobility harness that I used for a short time after I broke my foot. I am currently using one of their service dog leashes. The leather work is good. The harnesses are a bit heavy. They have the fake sheep's wool stuff for padding. I don’t like that at all. Also be super mindful of the fit of these harnesses. they tend to be low on the front of many dogs, which might restrict front leg movement. If you have a tall slender dog, skip this guide harness. The handles are available in different lengths and colors to match the harnesses. They are okay, just leather covering flat metal with no padding. The handles attach with metal bolt snaps, like on the end of a leash, so they are kind of clunky and make a lot of noise.

The coats can be made to go over the harness. She can do all sorts of colors, fabrics, different fiber fills, reflective strips and strap adjustments. She was easy to work with and I highly recommend her work.

I had my question answered extremely quickly. My order arrived promptly and without difficulty. The web site is clean and easy to deal with.
