[nagdu] waxing those paws

Hi again,

To all of those who are going through this miserable cold spell. As I sit
her it is 4F out and I am contemplating what I really need to do. I think it
will be nothing since the forecast is for more snow. My question is for
those who use the musher's wax. I haven't used it since last year until this
past week. I remember using it sparingly on the paws and having no problem
on a usual route of a mile or so. This was through several inches of snow,
slush and ice. This past week it seems it only lasted a quarter mile or so
with the same application. I am pretty sure that I applied the same amounts
and the conditions were less extreme as far as not having the snow to trudge
through, just snow-pack.

How often do you re-apply the wax when you are out? I have never had to do
it more than once, even when the temps were in the single digits. I can
understand the -0, but I am just checking with other folks. I will use as
much as it takes, but I don't want to use more than is sufficient.

I know that sometimes we can travel in areas that have carpet and those
areas can wipe the paws clean, but I take that into consideration.

I suppose I could take my shoes and socks off and apply the stuff to my feet
and check it out, but I have a sensitivity to catching colds - lol.

Thanks for your help, as always.
