[nagdu] Bandanas and winter coats

Fine boots, except if you get on and off several busses. Believe me, in
colder climates, dots would rather have bare feet than be walking on blocks
of ice which may or may not be frozen to the hairs on the paws. Very few
schools train in conditions common to much of Canada; damn, folks at seeing
eye often wimp out in cold conditions. I do in fact recall near the end of
my training period staff shovelling off curbs on our planned route. This
would be understandable near the beginning of the training, but the covered
curbs for those of us (only me in that class) who would be headed home.
Fortunately, I had worked with four previous dogs so I could manage that
little extra teaching on my own..

Doug: soul on ice.

:I too will never forget the day at GEB where the instructors had us
: put the booties on our dogs. As soon as Kipling started galloping and
: walking super fast, I died! I laughed so hard, I cried through the
: majority of the practice session. And the same thing happened the
: second time, which was outside.
: The problem with the boots is that dogs cannot feel the ground through
: the footwear. This is one of the reasons why I prefer my dog to wear
: thin, latex booties. The product Musher's secret is fantastic because
: it creates an effective barrier between the salt and cold without
: depriving a dog of its sense of touch through its feet.
