I am sorry you were treated like that and others as well.
I am out on Long Island, and most of the Lions out here support GDF.
I have never run into such nastiness, and I will let others know how people feel.
The same feelings at Lions why can't NFB and ACB work together on issues.
That is a separate topic, but I say, it is similar to why and might be more than just like Republican and Democratic.
But when this comes up, I just stand for us the NFB.
Again, I am sorry that you have gone through this, and only thing I can say is educate.
They should know that all schools have same quality of education etc.

Cheryl, I'm afraid a lot of us have had these experiences with the Lions. Lions have crifficized me for getting Seeing Eye Dogs, have told me that Seeing Eye dogs are not as good as Leader Dogs, that I must go to Leader next time to get a high-quality dog. I have also had the experience with the Lions of feeling like the token blind person. I have also had the experience of being treated in a very condescending way by Lions. I have had a few good experiences with the Lions, too—2 wonderful skiing trips, fun displaying about NFB at Lions conferevers, etc., but I do think some education needs to happen so that Lions really believe in the capabilities of blind folks.
