Thanks Lyn, the girl is much better now. Only a half of a prednisone to go
tomorrow. We took a jaunt to the park today because she was just so bored. I
figured this would be an easy job for her. Too hot to go anywhere else since
we are due for the 90's again today.
She did great.
I stayed away from our bench though. I think this might be where the
encounter was, not sure, but a good bet. Nobody was around to check for me
but maybe next time.
I probably looked like a fool on my knees trying to listen underneath the
bench for humming. Then again I probably look like a fool most of the time
with my GPS hooked on my belt, a food pouch around my waist, a bandana
around my head, a backpack on my back and a water bottle hanging from my
shoulder. After a lap around the park in this heat I am soaking wet and
ready for the fan and a chaise lounge and a lemonade.
The only thing missing is a pool for the 2 of us <smiles>
Oh, the perils of summer!

Hi,
If Cass is on both Benedryl AND Pred, I'd limit her working. Her response
time and reflexes might be impaired due to the drugs. Sounds like it is
only a few days anyway. Maybe you might like to go sighted guide with your
friend and heel Cass. This way, she gets go get out of the house but not
have the responsibility of guiding you. Just a thought. Hope she gets well

soon. Poor pup! I, too, am allergic to insect bites and stings so I know
what that's like.

Hi all,

Cass received multiple bites or bee stings on Monday. She ended up getting a
puffed up face due to an allergic reaction on Monday night. This is when I
realized this happened.

I immediately gave her Benadryl, one in the evening and one in the early
morning of Tuesday morning.

I was able to get into the vet Tuesday morning. She was bitten on her ear
multiple times and on her mouth. Poor girl.

The vet instructed me to continue Benadryl every 8 hours for the next
several days and also gave me prednisone to administer, one a day for 3 days
and ½ for 2 days.

As you may think, Cass is not feeling too well. The Benadryl makes her feel
drowsy, and lethargic. She wants to play, but just doesn't have it in her.

Has anyone had a similar occurrence?

I was wondering about working her? I thought about going out to lunch and
taking her. It is not a strenuous working job, but she is really bored I can
tell. I don't know if this is a good idea or not. Having a friend along
would ensure my safety, and it would give the girl an opportunity to get out
and look around at the people which she loves to do.

Also, I was wondering if anyone was familiar with how long I should keep her
down if I should at all. Does the medication affect her working behavior?

Thanks for any input.
