I don't know about labor and delivery.
But when I was in the hospital.
They got a volunteer to stay with my dog.
then they brought her too me when I got into my room.
My doctor actually went down and told her that I was all right and gave her
lots and lots of pats.

Subject: [nagdu] Question on guide dog and use while giving birth

Hello,
So here is my question. I am going to be getting my first Guide Dog this
fall or spring from Freedom Guide Dogs. My husband and I are trying to have
a child and with him working nights I might end up in LD with my Guide. He
has only three family members one his mother is house bound do to
disability. The other one his sister who lives with us but I am not sure
how long that will be the case. The last is his father live about an hour
away. All of my family is around 2 hours away. Both me and my husband want
the Guide to be with me. My husband could take his out if I am not able to
or we can see about his sister or dad doing this for us. The question is can
I have my Guide during my labor and delivery? Of course if I need to have a
C-Section I know that my Guide could not be able to enter the operating
room. In that case the dog would be with someone else during that time. Can
the hospital tell me I can not have my Guide? Please let me know what your
thoughts on this are.

***Side note here. Is there anyone on the list that has gotten there Guide
from Freedom??
Thanks,
Melissa Treaster
