[nagdu] Crates and barking

Putting a dog in a crate will absolutely not stop barking. It will cause
barking for some dogs especially. My roommate had a dog being trained as a
service dog. He became ill and had to keep the dog in a kennel/crate a
portion of time because he had to lie down and this dog was not safe to not
destroy the house. He would bark on and on. Sadly to say it was determined
that he was not service dog material and just needed permission to be just a
dog. We found him a home with a young college kid with five acres fenced so
he could just roam and be free in the yard and he is now a happy dog. So, a
crate may not help with barking and may encourage it. Jett never barked
outside the crate except when there was a reason to.

I don't see how putting a dog in a crate would stop it barking or crying.
Does that actually work?
I could see it, if the dog tore up the house because of separation anxiety,
but barking?
