Hi Alyssa,
Rather than continuing to buy replacement after replacement, I would
suggest figuring out why Sophie is chewing up leashes, and finding out
a way to prevent this.
First, chewing is a dog's way of relieving stress. So if your dog is
chewing on her leash, it is likely that she is experiencing distress.
Do you exercise your dog adequately? You might need to just go for
long leisurely walks, in addition to your daily routine of class,
work, and whatever else you do throughout the day. How often do you
play with your dog? She might need more playtime with you, or ways to
run around and burn off energy than she's currently getting. If you
are living on a college campus, I know that sometimes it's hard to
find places where you have room to run and play with your girl. If you
need ideas for things like this, I would be more than happy to help.
Secondly, I suggest you purchase a tie-down, or if your school gave
you one, use that to tether Sophie to you or your seat. This will
prevent any further chewing up of leashes while you guys are sitting
around for extended periods of time.
