[nagdu] my two cents worth on this lack of speed thread

All of these things I'm hearing in these posts from Barb are the typical things you hear from the sighted public as you go about your business. I think our guide dogs have more of an interesting life than the average pet dog who stays home each day. When I was growing up, many dog owners kept their dogs on a chain and if it were in the summer it would be 90 degrees out and those dogs would be outside all day chained or penned up and some had no water. let a sighted person come to me and say, "Your dog never has any fun or yadayadayadayada and I usually tell them that my dog gets to go just about everywhere with me and that's better than being left home all day by itself. Usually they don't have a comeback. And I also use a gentle leader on my dog perhaps because I care and don't want him to eat that piece of meat that was sitting out on the sidewalk for several hot summer days in the 90 degree heat. Nor do I want him to eat a napkin or anything from a homeless person who may be sitting in the middle of the stairs as I go down to catch a bus. Zeb and I come home from work and we usually have a nice game of tug. We're also involved in different things and have a full-time job and do socialize regularly with friends with or without dogs. That's my two cents worth.
