[nagdu] Cold weather

Trust me, they also adapt quite quickly; it's only when you start hitting
temperatures like minus 30 Fahrenheit you might start to worry a little. I
do give anyone full credit who has concerns about their dogs who, believe it
or not, also have feelings of discomfort in extreme conditions. The worst
part about severe cold is when the dog has to stand still for a period of
time, especially on bare concrete. A covering of snow is actually better
protection in such conditions.

Doug: it's so cold in Winnipeg that even a dog's bark freezes until spring.

: I'm more worried about you than Chase. Stay inside. (grin)
:
: You are doing all the right things. Seriously, stay inside as much as
possible. These dogs are tougher than we give them credit for being.

:
: My guide, Chase, and I are headed to Milwaukee soon. We live in the
moderate climate of the San Francisco Bay Area. I see highs in MKE ranging
around thirty degrees F. What do I need to do to help Chase cope with the
cold? He --of course -- has a fur coat, but I keep it farily short. He has
a rain coat, but I don't know how much warmth it would provide. He has
shoes.
:
: Thanks for your advice.
