[nagdu] Cold weather

Hi Craig,

I'm with Tracy; boots can be kind of a hassle; Huck doesn't like having his put on, though his are mesh on top, and I can't think of the name of the material for the soles. They don't come up as high as the ones I got for Roxy from Seeing eyes.
It is probably best if you use boots in the house, at first, until he gets used to them, though it sounds like you may not have time for this.
I will probably use Musher's Secret on him, as if you lose a boot, you can't buy just one either, right Tracy? <grin>
I think, if Huck wasn't such a twit about it, I could get them on correctly and the straps tight enough to keep boots on, though Musher's Secret does a great job, and you only need a little for each foot to rub on each pad and a little between the toes, so ice doesn't build up.
Our dogs are usually tougher than we think, though not as tough as if they were outdoors most of the time.
Good luck and have a great time.

Subject: [nagdu] Cold weather

My guide, Chase, and I are headed to Milwaukee soon. We live in the moderate climate of the San Francisco Bay Area. I see highs in MKE ranging around thirty degrees F. What do I need to do to help Chase cope with the cold? He --of course -- has a fur coat, but I keep it farily short. He has a rain coat, but I don't know how much warmth it would provide. He has shoes.

Thanks for your advice.

Craig and Chase.
