[nagdu] Ear infection

Hi,
I have a golden who is prone to chronic ear infections, so I clean out
his ears once a week with the epi-otic solution, that Minh mentioned.
I just clean his ears out with Kleenex, or I flush them by squirting
solution in, allowing him to shake it out, then wiping the excess
solution out of his ears.
I say the cleaning schedule just depends on the dog. Some dogs never
get ear infections and never need their ears cleaned. Others need
their ears cleaned once a month to once a week. After a dog gets an
ear infection though, they are more likely to start getting them. One
of the vet techs at my vet recommended that I clean the golden guy's
ears out, not once a week, but only when I saw dirt in there. I told
her that she was nuts and I just could not do that with all the
chronic ear infections that he had this summer.
The vinegar solution helps to get rid of ear infections. One of my
girlfriends who has a lab guide tried it out, and I think the
infection was gone after ten days.
It's better to use this on repeat infections so that the dog does not
build an immunity to certain antibiotics.
